Everything you need to know before renting a car in Morocco

Identity Document

Valid passport (mandatory for foreign nationals)
National identity card (CIN) for Moroccan residents
The document must be valid for the entire rental period

Driving License

Valid driving license held for at least 2 years
European (EU) license: accepted as-is, no international permit needed
US, Canadian, UK license: accepted with an International Driving Permit (IDP)
Licenses from other countries: International Driving Permit required
The international permit must accompany the original license (never alone)

Credit Card

International credit card (Visa or Mastercard) in the main driver's name
The card is used as a security deposit guarantee (pre-authorization)
Debit and prepaid cards are NOT accepted for the deposit
Deposit amount varies from 3,000 to 15,000 MAD depending on vehicle category

Age Requirements

Minimum age: 21 years for Economy, Compact, and Sedan categories
Minimum age: 25 years for SUV, Minivan, and Luxury categories
Young driver surcharge (21-24 years): 50 MAD/day
No maximum age limit, subject to a valid driving license

Additional Driver

The additional driver must present the same documents (license + ID)
Surcharge of 50 MAD/day per additional driver
Maximum 2 additional drivers per contract

Deposit & Guarantee

The deposit is pre-authorized on your credit card at pickup and fully refunded within 7 business days after vehicle return, provided no damage is found.
